REFORMER PILATES FOR BEGINNERS

FIRST SESSION?
YOU’RE IN GOOD COMPANY

You don’t have to know the moves to be one of us. Bring your curiosity, ask questions and take it at your own pace. Choose a class suitable for beginners and we’ll introduce you to the Reformer. There’s room for a challenge and a laugh, even on day one.

Arrive 10 minutes early

We’ll introduce you to the Reformer and help you settle in.

A little hello goes a long way

Arrive 10 minutes early. We’re happy you’re here. We’ll show you around, introduce you to your instructor and explain the Reformer. You don’t need to know which end is which. That’s what we’re here for.

Outfit on. Socks on. You’re ready.

Come dressed for class or use the changing room. Leggings and a comfortable, close-fitting top help your instructor see your alignment. Wear something you feel good in and can move freely in.

Grip socks are required for hygiene and a steadier grip. Forgot yours? No worries. You can buy a pair at the studio in a range of colours. Match your outfit, your mood or simply pick your favourite.

Bring your water bottle if you like. If you forget, we have water and glasses ready.

Tell us how you’re feeling

Your instructor will ask about injuries before class. Please mention any injury, pain or movement limitations so they can suggest an alternative or tell you which exercise to leave out. You can ask questions before class and at any point during it.

Your pace is welcome here

If you lose track, pause. If something feels too challenging, ask. Your instructor can come over, explain again and show you another option. Taking a break is a normal part of finding your rhythm.

A quick wipe, then back to your day

After class, use the wipes provided to clean your Reformer. Your instructor will show you how to reset the Reformer and its springs. If you’re unsure, ask us to help.

Take your time getting changed, and use the shower if available at your chosen studio. Then head into your day with a little time for yourself already in the bank. We’ll be happy to see you again.

A few first-time thoughts

Do I need a certain body type or the perfect Reformer Pilates outfit?

Not at all. People of different ages, bodies and experience levels are part of our community. Matching set or favourite comfy clothes, you are equally welcome. You do not need to change your body to belong here. Come as you are, take your time and let us help you discover what you enjoy about moving. Your first step is worth celebrating.

What if I’m the least experienced person in the room?

You might be new, and that’s completely welcome. Everyone has had a first class. Other guests are usually busy concentrating on their own movements. This is a place to practise, not a competition with the person next to you.

What if I can’t follow everything?

You don’t need to get everything right on day one. Learning the setup, the cues and the movements takes time. Pause, ask your instructor and try again at your own pace.

Do I need to be fit or flexible already?

You don’t need to arrive with perfect flexibility or Reformer Pilates experience. Start with a beginner-friendly class. If you have concerns about an injury or your health, contact us before booking to discuss the class format.

Can I come on my own?

Absolutely. Plenty of people do. Say hello when you arrive and we’ll help you settle in. There’s no need to bring a workout buddy.

When will it start to feel familiar?

Give yourself a few sessions. Around three classes can be a helpful first taste, but everyone learns at a different pace. Notice your own progress: understanding a cue, finding your balance or feeling more in control. Even experienced guests keep discovering new challenges.
